Scrooge is interrupted by his nephew, Fred. He invites his uncle to Christmas dinner to meet his fiancée and to wish him Happy Christmas. Scrooge declines and Fred leaves, but there is another interruption. Kindheart and Goodman are two charitable persons who seek a donation from Scrooge. He sends them on their way empty-handed. Having reluctantly agreed to let Bob have Christmas Day off, Scrooge heads off home to bed. But his sleep is interrupted by the ghost of his late partner, Jacob Marley. He warns Scrooge of his fate if he does not change his ways, and foretells of the visits of three Christmas spirits. As the clock strikes one, the Ghost of Christmas Past appears and takes Scrooge back to his youth – Christmas at the Fezziwigs, his fiancée Belle, and those events that made him what he has now become.
***** There will be an interval of 15 minutes between Act One and Act Two. The Raffle will be drawn and the winning numbers will be displayed in the Foyer after the performance
***** ACT TWO – Back in his room, Scrooge tries to sleep. On the stroke of two, the Ghost of Christmas Present appears. Scrooge is shown Fred and his friends celebrating Christmas. Fred proposes a toast to his uncle, in spite of Scrooge’s attitude to him. The Ghost shows him the Crachit household, where they make the best of Christmas. Bob proposes a toast to Scrooge, before the family settles down to their poor meal. Scrooge asks what will become of Tiny Tim, but the Ghost cannot say – and disappears. As the clock strikes three, the Ghost of Christmas Future appears. Scrooge is shown a headstone with his own name on it. People appear mourning the death of a well-loved local man. Scrooge is shocked to realise they are not talking about him. He wakes up in bed, and realising it is Christmas Day, resolves to change his ways. With the help of a local lad, he sends the Crachits a turkey; he surprises Kindheart and Goodman with his generosity and becomes a “jolly old soul” who knew how to celebrate Christmas.
